Should I Repair or Replace My Roof?
1 min read
When a roof starts leaking, the instinct is to call for a repair. Sometimes that is exactly right. Sometimes it is how homeowners spend thousands delaying the inevitable.
When repair makes sense
Repair is the right move when:
- The damage is localized
- The rest of the roof still has useful life
- Underlayment and flashings are generally sound
- You are not stacking multiple repair invoices in a short window
When replacement is smarter
Consider a reroof when:
- Leaks keep returning in new places
- The system is aged for Southern California conditions
- Tile underlayment has failed across large areas
- You already know a replacement is coming in a few years
The honest question
Ask: Are you fixing a problem, or buying time on a roof that is done?
GoulenCo Roofing will tell you which one you are dealing with — then help you estimate the right next step.
